PDF Files for Revising Spalding
This page of the Guide contains all of the PDF files that can be downloaded to help you use the Spalding Method as I’ve suggested revising it. For example, on a previous page you could download the PDF file of the survey I did of the words on the Extended Ayres list in the 5th Edition of The Writing Road to Reading. That file is also available here.

The next PDF file is one that lays out all of the phonograms that need to be taught, and the order they should be taught. It also details the particular changes made to the original Spalding phonogram structure. Here it is.

If you want to review the reasons for the suggested changes, you can read them on the Guide pages Reasons for Modifying Spalding and Explaining the Ending “e” by clicking the links here.
This PDF file consists of seven pages of words from the Ayres list coded according to the revised method being advocated here.

And finally, here is a link to the Guide page that begins to describe the multisyllable technique taught in the OnTrack Reading Phonics Curriculum, should you decide to use it instead of the syllable breaks advocated by Spalding

That completes the discussion on how I would revise the Spalding Method to bring it into line with Phono-Graphix techniques that I believe are superior to those adopted by Spalding. Also, if you are primarily interested in remediation, rather than initial teaching, you might consider using the OnTrack Reading Phonics Curriculum, a method based on what I feel is the best of both Spalding and Phono-Graphix. See the first section of this Guide, titled OnTrack Advanced Code Workbook, for further information.
